For solar hot water heating the Solar Boiler is second to none. Providing up to 65% of your annual domestic hot water needs this unit has an immediate impact on the size of your bill. Hot water heating is usually the second highest energy expenditure in a household, the highest for some households. The solar boiler is nearly maintenance free as it requires the occasional glycol top up. It has year round operation and even the pump in
the unit is powered by the sun via a solar PV panel that allows you to have hot water even when the power is out, so long as you still have water pressure.
Super Insulation Techniques
All exterior walls are insulated with R20 Fiberglass insulation. The exterior walls are also covered with 1-1/2” rigid styrofoam insulation providing a wall assembly with a total R value of R-27.
Attic spaces are insulated to R-60 with blown in cellulose insulation.
Floor slabs are insulated with 1-1/2” Rigid insulation providing an R value close to 7.
Triple Glazed Windows – Low E
All windows on the South side are double glazed to work with the passive solar system. These windows have and rating of R-4.
The North, West and East sides have triple glazed windows rated at R-6.
